Fine Art Collections at Fine Art and Ceramic Museum (Museum Seni rupa dan Keramik)

The Indonesian works of art saved in Fine Art and Ceramic Museum originated from various eras. Some are from the era of Raden Saleh (1800-1880), Charming Indies (1920), Persagi (1938), Japan (1942), the founding of art studio (1945), the born of Realism Academics (1950), and the era of new Indonesian Fine Art.

Some collections of paintings including the painting of “Potret Diri” (means: My Picture) by Affandy, which was painted on a canvas using oil paint, in 1975; “Potret Diri dan Topeng” (means: My Picture and Mask) a painting by Affandy, painted on canvas using oil paint, in 1960; “Menyusui” (means: Milking) painted by Dullah in 1971 ,on a canvas using oil paint; “Barong” painted by anonymous on paper; “Pejuang” (means: Warrior) painted by Agus Djaya on a hardboard using oil paint, in 1957; reproduction of “Gunung Merapi Meletus” (means: Mount Merapi Erupting) in day time and evening time version, painted by Raden Saleh in 1865.

The original painting of “Gunung Merapi Meletus” is saved in Geology Museum, Leiden, Nedherland. The artist that reproduced the painting is Andot Roseno, painted on canvas using oil paint, in 2004. Besides those paintings there’re still many more painting in Fine Art and Ceramic Museum. The museum displays sculptures as well which have both the abstract and realist motif from time to time.
