History of the Fine Art Hall at Fine Art and Ceramic Museum (Museum Seni rupa dan Keramik)

On 21 January, 1870 the hall was built as a Holland Court or Raad Van Justitie. The hall was ever occupied as military barrack in the era of Nippon colony. In 1967 the hall was occupied as West Jakarta Mayor Office, and until 1975 it was occupied as the office of DKI Jakarta’s Museum and History Official Duty.

In 1972, the hall was determined as a historical building protected by monument law. On 20 August 1976, the hall was officially announced as Fine Art Hall by the second president of Indonesia, Soeharto. Since 1990 the hall was changed to Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, as it’s now. Read more...
